How to read it
The bars compare months against each other within one city, so a tall bar in Alexandria is not the same temperature as a tall bar in Aswan — always read the number above the bar. Coastal Alexandria and Sharm el-Sheikh are moderated by the sea; Luxor and Aswan, deep in the Nile valley, are the hottest places on the list and the ones where the summer months are genuinely punishing for sightseeing.
For temple and tomb visits in Upper Egypt, the shoulder months either side of winter — roughly October to November and February to March — tend to give the best balance of workable daytime temperatures. Cairo and Marrakech stay manageable across a longer stretch of the year.
